The First Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels was held in April in Santa Marta, Colombia. More than 60 countries participated in this international event organised by the host country and the Netherlands.

In the days leading up to the conference, civil society organisations and social movements convened the People’s Summit for a Fossil Free Future, where they led the way through people-centred proposals and real-world experiences towards a truly just transition, free from false solutions and corporate capture.

Real World Radio and Friends of the Earth International (FoEI) present this radio report, which gathers voices from all regions and addresses key issues in the discussion around energy transition.

This report features contributions from: Catalina Caro from CENSAT / Friends of the Earth Colombia, Wahyu Eka from WALHI / Friends of the Earth Indonesia, Pablo Fajardo from UDAPT  / Friends of the Earth Ecuador, Frances Verkamp from Friends of the Earth Europe, Siphesihle Mvundla from GroundWork / Friends of the Earth South Africa, Danilo Urrea from Friends of the Earth Latin America and the Caribbean, and Lise Masson from Friends of the Earth International.
