Protecting life in all its different forms
Special podcast ahead of COP 15 on Biodiversity
In a context where scientists state that the natural world is in a dire situation and that “human actions threaten more species with global extinction now than ever before,” the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15) to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) is taking place in Montreal, Canada, from 7-19 December.
There, governments will seek to agree on a Global Biodiversity Framework, which aims to halt the devastating loss of biodiversity by the end of this decade.
As part of the Global Days of Action planned for 23-24 November, where groups from Friends of the Earth International in the different continents will mobilise for an effective Global Biodiversity Framework, the Forests and Biodiversity coordinator at Friends of the Earth International, Nele Marien, explained why biodiversity is important.
