The Continental Day for Democracy and against Neoliberalism expresses solidarity with the Venezuelan people and rejects the Coup strategies implemented in the South American country. We think that a negotiated and peaceful way out, crafted by the government and a democratic opposition force, can forge the paths of dialogue to overcome the political differences and obstacles that have turned into confrontation as a result of the interference of countries with strong geopolitical interests in favor of neoliberalism and war.
Our solidarity with Venezuela is at the same time a call for the continuation of the articulated struggle of our Latin American and Caribbean people against the imperialistic impositions that aim to dismantle democracy and the rights historically achieved by the peoples. We can´t allow that our rights disappear as a consequence of Coup strategies that have caused dire effects in the recent past in countries such as Brazil and Honduras and that today are threatening the right of the Venezuelan people to self-determination.
We call on the social movements of the region to join Venezuela in solidarity and to avoid at all costs the antidemocratic advance of coup perpetrators.
The struggle continues!
